Many of our elected officials say they want to hold BGE accountable for raising rates on working families and blocking climate legislation. We say: prove it. Sign the pledge to reject donations from BGE, Exelon, and their PACs and lobbyists.
Elected officials and candidates: Sign the pledge here.
Residents: Tell the City Council and the Mayor to sign the pledge here.
We’re running the No BGE Pledge to shine a light on BGE’s corrupting influence on local politics and to pave a path toward a public power future by reducing BGE’s stranglehold on our elected officials.
Exelon (BGE’s parent company) is the second biggest campaign donor in Maryland. They buy influence in Baltimore and across the state by donating to political campaigns, taking elected officials out to fancy dinners, and hounding their offices with lobbyists. It’s time our elected officials support their constituents over big money interests and reject BGE’s dirty money.
By taking the No BGE Pledge, elected officials and candidates commit to the following:
- Adopting a policy to not knowingly accept any contributions from the PACs, lobbyists, or SEC-named executives of BGE or Exelon.
- If a pledge signer finds out that they have accidentally accepted a contribution from one of these entities after signing this pledge, they must return it within 30 days.
The following elected officials and candidates have signed the No BGE Pledge:
- Zac Blanchard, Baltimore City Council Member (District 11)
- Mark Conway, Baltimore City Council Member (District 4)
- Andy Ellis, Maryland Gubernatorial Candidate
- Bobby LaPin, Maryland State Senate Candidate (District 46)
- Phylicia Porter, Baltimore City Council Member (District 10)
- Odette Ramos, Baltimore City Council Member (District 14)
